Service & repairs
Rancilio Silvia and Rocky servicing in Brisbane — what we take, what it costs, and an honest answer on whether an older Silvia is worth fixing.
We service the Rancilio Silvia at our Woolloongabba workshop, along with the Lucy and the Rocky grinder. The Silvia is the machine that starts most people off in prosumer espresso, and it is one of the few at its price built to be opened up and repaired rather than replaced.
Be clear on the scope before you book: we take the Silvia, the Lucy and the Rocky grinder. We do not take the S24, the S26 or the Epoca — those are commercial machines and a different trade.
We also sell the Silvia range and the Rancilio Stile grinder, so these are machines we handle every week rather than occasionally. For buying advice, see our Rancilio Silvia review.
The Rocky comes in with the machine more often than not, and it is worth doing together — a grinder that has drifted will make a freshly serviced machine look like it is still faulty. Grinders sit on their own routine tier on the price list, separate from the machine.
The Silvia is a single boiler, so it sits on the single-boiler routine tier — the least expensive of the routine services, because there is one boiler and no digital interface to work around. The Silvia Pro X is a dual boiler with PID and sits higher up accordingly.
Beyond routine, the price list carries a few Silvia-specific line items that no other machine has: a boiler and element combination change, an element change for machines with the screw-in element system, and a stainless frame change. They are published with the rest on the coffee machine repairs price schedule — we do not restate figures here, because two copies of a price list drift apart.
Usually, and we will tell you when it is not. A machine of this age is a brass-and-steel boiler with a pump, a group and a set of seals — none of which is beyond a workshop that has the parts. What ends a machine is usually a corroded boiler or a discontinued electronic part, not wear.
If yours is close to that line, our guide on whether to repair or replace a coffee machine sets out the framework we use, and we will give you the same answer on the phone that we would give a friend. Where a machine genuinely is finished, we would rather say so than take a booking fee.
If you have outgrown the Silvia, the honest upgrade is a heat-exchanger machine, not a modification to the one you have. A single-boiler Silvia switches between brewing and steaming with a wait in between; that is the limit you are feeling, and no accessory removes it.
Come and see the entry heat-exchanger machines in the showroom — you can compare them side by side and feel the difference in build before you decide. Our repair or replace guide covers the same decision in more detail.
Every price is published on the coffee machine repairs price schedule — routine service tiers, descales, the quotation charge and the hourly labour rate. Nothing is restated here, so there is only ever one version to keep current.
Bookings go through the online service portal, which asks for the machine, the symptom, a drop-off date and the repair limit you want us to work to. Machines booked through the portal are back with you in three to five business days, subject to parts and technician availability. Dropped off without a booking, allow up to ten.
Every repair carries a 90-day guarantee on the work performed and the parts we install — the terms are at servicing guarantees. For turnaround, drop-off hours, parking and ship-in packing, see the Brisbane espresso machine repair page, or the coffee machine servicing and repairs hub for the full list of brands we take.
Yes — the Silvia in all its versions, the Silvia Pro X, the Lucy, and the Rocky grinder. We do not service the S24, the S26 or the Epoca; those are commercial machines and outside what this workshop is set up for.
Yes. Grinders are priced on their own routine tier, separate from the machine, and the Rocky is very often booked in alongside a Silvia — a grinder that has drifted will make a freshly serviced machine seem like it is still not right.
We would steer you away from it. The Silvia is a single boiler, and the limit most owners are actually feeling is the wait between brewing and steaming — which a PID does not remove. If you want to move past that, an entry heat-exchanger machine is the real answer. Come and compare a few in the showroom before spending money on the machine you have.
Usually yes. It is one of the few machines at its price built to be opened and repaired, and the price list carries Silvia-specific boiler, element and frame jobs precisely because they are worth doing. Where a machine genuinely is finished we will say so — our repair or replace guide sets out how we make that call.
The Silvia sits on the single-boiler routine tier, the least expensive of the routine services. That tier, the Silvia-specific boiler and element jobs, and the hourly labour rate are all published on the coffee machine repairs price schedule.
