Zip – Own it now, pay later

Zip lets you take a machine home now and pay for it over time. We’ve offered it for years because a good prosumer espresso machine is a considered purchase, and spreading the cost is often the difference between buying the machine you actually want and settling for one tier down.

One thing to be clear about up front: we are not the credit provider. Zip is credit provided by Zip Co Australia. Your application, your limit, your fees and your repayments are all between you and Zip — we never see your credit assessment and we can’t influence the outcome. What follows is how it works on our side of the counter.

What Zip costs you

Zip runs three accounts in Australia. Which one suits you depends mostly on how much you’re spending.

Account Credit limit Interest Fees
Zip Pay Up to $1,000 Interest free, always $9.95 monthly account fee, waived if you pay your statement closing balance in full by the due date. No establishment fee.
Zip Plus $2,000 – $20,000 Interest free when your end-of-month balance is under $1,000; 13.70% p.a. above that $9.95 monthly account fee, waived if nothing is owing
Zip Money Up to $5,000 An interest-free term set by the merchant offer, then 25.9% p.a. on anything still outstanding $9.95 monthly account fee, waived if nothing is owing. A one-off establishment fee may apply for new customers.

Most machine purchases land in Zip Money territory. The interest-free term and any minimum spend attached to it are shown by Zip at checkout — those are Zip’s numbers, they can vary by promotion, and they’re the ones that count. The fees and rates in the table are Zip’s published terms and are also subject to change, so read the Zip terms before you apply.

Eligibility and limits

To apply you’ll need to be 18 or over, an Australian resident with valid ID, and have a reasonable credit history. Zip runs an identity and credit assessment as part of the application; most take a few minutes.

Approval isn’t guaranteed, and the limit you’re offered is Zip’s decision, not ours. If your limit doesn’t stretch to the machine you want, talk to us — in the showroom we can usually put part of the purchase on Zip and take the balance on card.

Using Zip online

At checkout, pick Zip as your payment method. If you already have an account you log in and confirm the purchase; if you don’t, you can apply during checkout. Once Zip approves it you’re returned to our site and the order goes through like any other — same confirmation email, same dispatch or pickup timeline, same everything.

Zip is available across the range: espresso machines, grinders, and the accessories that go with them.

Using Zip in the showroom

If you’d rather see the machines side by side before committing, Zip works in store too. Open the Zip app, generate your in-store code, and we’ll scan it at the counter. Nothing else changes — you walk out with the machine the same day.

The showroom is at 199 Logan Rd, Woolloongabba, ten minutes south of the Brisbane CBD. Worth doing if you’re weighing up two or three machines: build quality, size and steam power are much easier to judge in person than from a spec sheet.

Warranty, servicing and returns on a Zip purchase

Paying with Zip doesn’t change the purchase itself. The warranty is the same warranty, servicing is the same servicing, and if something goes wrong you deal with us exactly as you would if you’d paid by card. Zip is only how the money moved.

Two things worth knowing:

  • Repayments keep running. If your machine is in for warranty work, your Zip account continues to its own schedule — Zip has no visibility of a repair and won’t pause anything. Don’t stop paying.
  • Refunds go back to Zip. If we refund an order paid with Zip, the money returns to your Zip account and reduces your balance. It doesn’t come back to a card. Any fees or interest Zip has already charged are between you and Zip.

An honest word on borrowing

Zip is credit, and interest-free is only interest-free if you clear the balance inside the term. After that, Zip Money’s standard variable rate is 25.9% p.a., which will comfortably outrun whatever you saved by not waiting.

If you’re not confident you’ll clear it in time, a less expensive machine you own outright is the better buy. Tell us your budget and we’ll point you at one — there are genuinely good machines at every tier, and we’d rather sell you the right one.
